The phases of the moon 🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘 🌑

🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘The phases of the moon! 🌒🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑

Hello! Today I am going to tell you all about the phases of the moon.
Let's get started...

There are eight phases of the moon; New moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, third quarter and waning crescent.

Why does the moon have phases?

The moon has phases because of how the sun shines on it. The moon has no light but when the sun reflects on it we can see part of it or sometimes all of it.

What does 'waxing' and 'waning' mean?

Waning means to become weaker or smaller which is what we are seeing at that period in the lunar phases. Waxing basically means the opposite- to grow larger.
